I recently came home from a very refreshing trip to the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.  This is one of my all-time favorite retreats to catch up on reading, relaxing, and general well-being.  My go-to service is a combination massage and all natural body mask that leaves my skin feeling baby soft and very moisturized.  Luckily, the recipe is simple enough to do at home when I don't have the time to get away for the weekend.

Coconut Honey Body Mask Coconut Honey Body Mask


1/3 cup organic coconut oil

1/3 cup organic honey

1-2 drops essential oil (I went with Neroli, a delightful orange blossom scent)

Mix coconut oil and honey together.  Warm in the microwave for 10 seconds.  Stir in essential oil and whisk thoroughly.  Mask should be consistent and thick, not runny.


  1. Hop in the shower and gently buff away dead skin using a dry brush in a small, circular motion.  For now, leave the water off.
  2. Massage mask all over, paying extra attention to dry areas (elbows, knees and hands).  Allow mask to absorb for at least ten minutes.  Consider applying a hydrating hair treatment in the meantime.
  3. Rinse off with warm water.  Hot water will strip your skin of its natural oils and the natural oils in the mask.
  4. Towel dry.
  5. Apply a rich body butter of your preference.  Voila!
