Nothing says summer like warm nights spent outdoors with friends. It's always amazing to me what a difference some well-appointed lighting can make to a backyard space. Personally, I'm a major sucker twinkle lights, but they can sometimes get a little too "Christmas in July" if you don't pair them with something else. Here are a few alternatives that I'm loving just as much.
While they might not seem like the most practical of outdoor lighting options, standing lanterns can actually offer quite a bit of light (not to mention some pretty fab ambiance) depending on what you decide to put inside them. To keep things safe and fire-free but still romantic, I recommend getting flameless candles to go inside your lanterns. My favorite style of standing lanterns is anything Moroccan-inspired to add a little boho flavor to your backyard.
Overhead Globe String Lights:
I love globe string lights--the grown-up version of twinkle lights. I'm really liking the look of them in the images above, strung overhead in straight lines or like a grid. It creates a canopy of light and adds a ceiling effect to your outdoor space.
Artsy Twinkle Alternatives
Thanks to Etsy, I've been able to find a ton of cute alternatives to the classic twinkle light. I'm loving the organic, nature-inspired look of these nest lanterns and flower lights. I may not be giving up my beloved twinkles entirely, but these seem like a good way to class it up a bit.
