Every now and again life throws at you someone truly surprising - those types of people you get to talking to that seem somehow in sync, in your sync. And I have to share. After perusing the California Gift Show for a few hours, my sights landed on an interesting wooden cart with yellow blobs (I was standing a hundred feet away or so). I made my way through the furniture and stationary booths, finally landing at Pollen Arts, a refreshing and entirely inspirational candle making business.
Run by Juwels and Peter, a couple now living in Flagstaff, AZ, Pollen Arts casts 100% beeswax candles from antique bottles. While I didn't have the chance to meet Peter, I did get to speak with Juwels about their incredible journey. Leaving their conventional lives to pursue their dream began with purchasing a 1975 Winnebago Chieftain, dubbed "Miss Winnnie." From there they started collecting antique bottles from old junkyards to turn into candles, hand making every piece themselves. With success on etsy and a massive order from Anthropologie to boot, Pollen Arts is certainly on its way to bigger and better things.
What I loved most about Juwels and her vision for the company was that she sincerely wants to do bigger and better things for the world. Sure, her products add beauty and old world charm, but they are definitely infused with her good vibrations. And it's these good vibrations I want in my home, on my desk as I get to work on my own dreams. So, thank-you Pollen Arts! It's this flow of energy that gets good things going.
