meet the mascot (I have yet to meet him)
I've heard a lot about CrossFit gyms from my close friends. People that do it LOVE it. And to be honest, I just didn't get it. It sounded intense, sweaty, and made me feel like I could probably die. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out when I hike uphill in Griffith Park!
But two nights ago, I tried it. My roommate, Nadia, is a regular at CrossFit Ganbatte in Glassell Park. She prepped me on the introductory class, stressing the importance of bringing water and just giving it my best. It was hard, very hard. But certainly nothing I couldn't handle if I kept my pace. And the crowd really delivers. There is an air of camaraderie and dedication I haven't experienced at other gyms. Everyone seemed to be sincerely invested in one another's success. Not to mention the owner, JP, calls everyone an athlete. Me, an athlete!
This Saturday I will be testing out an official class. Wish me luck, folks!
