If we're being honest, we aren't usually very adventurous drinkers. A gin and tonic or margarita, and we don't need to look further. But when we happened upon a version of this drink in Bon Appetit magazine, we were intrigued (mostly by the name because we love a little Audrey Hepburn/Gregory Peck romance moment.) We replaced Amaro with Campari, because we had it on hand. The result: a perfectly balanced cocktail. Sweet, bitter, tart, and with fresh aromas of mint. Yum! 

Ingredients (makes one drink)

  • 2 small sprigs, mint
  • ½ oz. simple syrup
  • 1 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. Italian sweet vermouth
  • ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • Lemon wedge (for serving)

Directions:

Muddle mint leaves and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add campari, vermouth, and lemon juice; fill shaker with ice. Shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a glass filled with ice and garnish with a lemon wedge.
